UAE Polo wins the Masters Cup 2018



02/13/2018: DUBAI, UAE: UAE Polo Team is the new champion of the Masters Cup, the second trophy of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, after defeating Habtoor Polo in the final by a 5.5 goals to 5. In a very close match, HH Sheika Maitha Al Maktoum team won the trophy thanks to a great goal scored by teenager Lucas Monteverde Jr. after going in disadvantage during almost all the game.
 
Both teams played at a very high level and offered a great spectacle in field 2 of the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. Before the final Wolves defeated RA Polo by 5 goals to 4 and achieved the third place of the Masters Cup.

The Julius Bär Gold Cup, the most important tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, will begin tomorrow at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. A double action day will open the tournament, starting at 2pm with Wolves facing Abu Dhabi Polo Team followed by Zedan Polo against UAE Polo from 4pm.

UAE Polo wins and makes it to the final of the Polo Masters Cup



02/13/2018: DUBAI, UAE: In the third action day of the Masters Cup, the second trophy of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, UAE Polo won his match against Mahra and is the first team to qualify to the final of this tournament. A double action day was held this afternoon at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club with UAE Polo defeating Mahra by 10.5 goals to 7 and Habtoor Polo winning against RA Polo by 9 goals to 4. With these results, Habtoor Polo, Mahra and RA Polo will decide the remaining spot in the final by a penalty shootout to be held tomorrow from 10 am at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. Five teams up to 10-goal handicap are taking part of this tournament.

The Masters Cup will come to an end next Thursday 15th February with the final of the tournament from 4 pm at field 1 of the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. Before the final a round robin will be held from 2 pm.

RA Polo have a successful debut in the Polo Masters Cup



02/12/2018: DUBAI, UAE: RA Polo defeated Wolves by 6 goals to 4 in the second day of action at the Polo Masters Cup, the second tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018. RA Polo, patron Rashid Al Falahi´s team, had a successful debut in the tournament with a deserved victory in the match held this afternoon at Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. Five teams up to 10-goal handicap are taking part in this tournament.

The Masters Cup will continue tomorrow with a double action day at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. Starting at 2 pm the winners of the opening day, Mahra and UAE Polo will be face to face followed by Habtoor Polo vs RA Polo from 4pm.

Julius Baer Gold Cup 2018, the region’s premier polo tournament celebrates its second year on its ne

The live draw for the Julius Baer Gold Cup 2018 fixture was conducted on Sunday, 11 February 2018 at The St. Regis Dubai, Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. Mohammed K. Held under the umbrella of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series, the Julius Baer Gold Cup 2018 will open its gates to the public on 16 February 2018 with the long-awaited final scheduled for 9 March 2018. The highly anticipated and must-see event on the international polo calendar will host hundreds of polo fans from across the UAE, VIPs, and socialites who will get the chance to enjoy the great ambiance of the five-star property.

The Julius Baer Gold Cup (Dubai Open), an 18-goal handicap competition, is one of the only tournaments in the United Arab Emirates to be recognized and certified by the World Polo Tour (WPT) and ranked by the highly coveted ‘WPT Cup’, resulting in winners receiving 60 points for their victory. The tournament is played under the banner of the Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA) and under strict international supervision according to the HPA rules and provision of its umpires.

Victories by Mahra and UAE Polo in the opening day of the Polo Masters Cup



02/11/2018: DUBAI, UAE: Mahra Polo Team and UAE Polo Team premiered with two deserved victories in the opening day of the Polo Masters Cup, the second tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018. Mahra was defeated by 8 goals to 6 to Wolves and UAE Polo beat Habtoor by 5.5 goals to 4 in a double action day at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. Five teams with up to a 10-goal handicap took part in this tournament.

Zedan Polo Team wins the McLaren Cup 2018



02/09/2018: DUBAI, UAE: Zedan Polo Team is the new champion of theMc Laren Cup, the first trophy of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, 18-­‐goals handicap competition, after defeating Bin Drai Polo in the final by 9 goals to 8.5 this afternoonat the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
 
It was an exciting final day with a perfect ending for a great tournament. Zedan achieved another trophy, and it´s the fourth title in arow in the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series, after winning the Gold Cup in 2015 and 2017 and the Silver Cup in 2016 and 2018. Pablo Mac Donough, ten goaler La Dolfina superstar, once againwas the hero after scoring a30-­‐yard penalty in the last action of the final to give Zedan the victory. A worked up triumph against Bin Drai who fought really hard and had their chances to win the game.
 
The talent of Mac Donough to twist a match that with 38 seconds to go was almost lost and to score the winning goal from the 30 yards made the difference. A big applause for Bin Drai who played a great match, with Raúl Laplacette as the MVP and top scorer of the final with 5 goals and also his horse Cruzeiro awarded as the Best Playing Pony.

Zedan and Bin Drai to play in the final of the McLaren Cup 2018



02/07/2018: DUBAI, UAE: Zedan and Bin Drai are the finalists of the Mc Laren Cup, the first trophy of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, 18-­‐goals handicap competition, after winning their semifinal matches this afternoon at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
 
In an exciting double action day, Zedan defeated Mahra by 10 goals to 6.5 while Bin Drai did the same against Wolves by a close 7.5 to 7. Pablo Mac Donough, ten goaler La Dolfina superstar, made once again the difference after a superb third chukker that turned the game in favor of Zedan. After two even chukkers, Mac Donough started the chukker on his mare Paloma and this perfect combination never fails. Zedan Polo Team took control of the game and achieved a 3-­‐goal gap that was decisive for the rest of the game. Mahra fought till the very end but Zedan ´s victory was never in danger and deservedly qualified to the McLaren Cup final.

The second semifinal of the day faced two teams with similar skills and the final result of the matchshows it clearly. A half goal handicap difference in favor of Bin Drai was vital for the final victory of patron Sunil Bin Drai, which in today´s match replaced injured Rashid Bin Drai. Both teams battled during the five chukkers but it was Bin Drai the one that took the last ticket to the final of the McLaren Cup.

Wolves and Zedan Polo also make it to the semifinals of the McLaren Cup



02/04/2018: DUBAI, UAE: After achieving two great victories, Wolves and Zedan Polo qualify for the semifinals of McLaren Cup, the opening trophy of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, 18-­‐goals handicap competition. Wolves defeated Mahra by 9 goals to 8.5 and Zedan did the same with Habtoor Polo by 10 goals to 8 in a exciting double action day at the AlHabtoor Polo Resort & Club. Thrilling matches, great polo level and two deserved winners in today´s games.
 
After today´s victories, Wolves and Zedan will join Mahra in the next stage of the McLaren Cup where there´s still one place to be decided between three teams: UAE Polo, Bin Drai and Habtoor Polo. The remaining spot in the semifinals will be determined by a penalty shootout from 11 am at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.

UAE Polo wins and joins the battle of the semifinals qualifying round



02/03/2018: DUBAI, UAE: UAE Polo achieved a vital win against Bin Drai by 7 goals to 6 in today´s match for the six day of action for the McLaren Cup, the opening trophyof the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, 18-­‐ goals handicap competition, at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
 
With this victory, HH Sheika Maitha Al Maktoum´s team joins the battle for the remaining three places in the semifinals. With today´s first two points, UAE Polo equals Habtoor, Wolves, Bin Drai and Zedan. Tomorrow´s last qualification matches will clear up the situation but there´s still a lot to decide. A victory will put Wolves, who plays against Mahra (already classified) in semifinals, the same for Habtoor or Zedan, which play against each other. Meanwhile, UAE and Bin Drai will be expectant of what happens.

Mahra Polo wins and qualifies to the semifinals of the McLaren Cup 2018



02/02/2018: DUBAI, UAE: Mahra Polo defeated Zedan by 5.5 goals to 5 in the single match held today for the McLaren Cup, the opening trophy of theDubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, 18-­‐goals handicap competition, at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
 
This victory makes patron´s Rashid Al Habtoor team the first one to reach the semifinals of the tournament after a 2-­‐2 win record. Mahra and Zedan held a superb polo match, with great polo level and full speed actions during the five chukkers match. Actions and the score was even during all the game and the half goal handicap for Mahra, as in the first match against Bin Drai, made again the difference. Pablo Mac Donough (Zedan) was the top scorer of the match with 4 goals and Jerónimo del Carril the top scorer in Mahra with 4.

Bin Drai defeated Habtoor Polo by 9 goals to 8 in the single match held today for the McLaren Cup, the opening trophy of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, 18-­‐goals handicap competition, at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
 
It was a great victory for patron Rashid Bin Drai´s team to get back on the competition and to put the tournament much more even than it was before.
After five full speed chukkers, Bin Drai achieved to defeat Habtoor Polo and now both teams have one victory each leaving their chances to reach semifinals in their last qualifying matches this weekend.
 
Francisco Elizalde (Habtoor Polo) was the top scorer of the match with 7 goals and Raúl Laplacette the top scorer on the winning team with 5.

Mahra Polo and Wolves Polo proclaimed winners in the second action day of the McLaren Cup 2018



29/01/2018: DUBAI, UAE: Mahra Polo and Wolves Polo achieved great victories in today’s double action day for the McLaren Cup, the opening trophy of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, 18--‐goals handicap competition, at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
 
Mahra Polo defeated Bin Drai by a close 6.5 goal to 6 and Wolves Polo defeated UAE Polo by 10--‐7. So far all the teams have played in the tournament and all shown a competitive streak. In the first game of the day, the half goal handicap difference in favor of Mahra was decisive to win a very even match against Bin Drai.  In their debut game for the McLaren Cup both teams showed a good performance and will be a tough opponent for the rest of the teams.

In the second match of the day, Wolves Polo achieved a great victory against UAE Polo by 10 goals to 7 with a performance that touched perfection. Wolves teamwork was the clue to defeat a really tough opponent like UAE Polo with 10 goaler superstar Polito Pieres in the team.
 
After a close first half, Wolves, patron Habtoor Al Habtoor’s team, raised the level to increase the gap to 3 goals in the beginning of the second half and despite of UAE Polo comeback in the fourth chukker (7--‐6) they achieved to control the actions and score three more goals in the last seven minutes of the match for the final 10--‐7 victory.

Habtoor Polo and Zedan Polo had a successful opening at the McLaren Cup 2018



26/01/2018: DUBAI, UAE:The McLaren Cup, the opening trophy of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2018, 18-­‐ goals handicap competition, began today with victories by Habtoor Polo and Zedan Polo in an exciting double action day at Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
 
Habtoor Polo defeated Wolves Polo by 5 goals to 4 and Zedan Polo defeated UAE Polo by 8-­‐7. Two close matches for an exciting opening day followed by a huge crowd at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club.
 
In the first game, Habtoor Polo, patron’s Mohammed Al Habtoor team, played a good first half but in the         last two chukkers, with Wolves putting a lot of pressure on them leveled the match. The talented 8  goaler handicap, Francisco Elizalde took control of the actions and scored the decisive goal in the last chukker for Habtoor’s Polo 5-­‐4 victory. Fran Elizalde was the top scorer in the winning team with 3 goals and Habtoor Al Habtoor, with  2, the  top  scorer of Wolves Polo  team.

In the second match of the day, Zedan Polo achieved a great victory against UAE Polo by 8 goals to 7 in a very close and thrilling game.
Zedan Polo, patron’s Amr Zedan team, began the match at full speed for a 3-­‐1 lead in the first seven minutes. But quick comeback by patron’s HH Sheika Maitha team, put UAE Polo on the lead by 5-­‐4 at the end of the second chukker. The answer was immediate by Zedan to get back again in the lead by 7-­‐5 in the third chukker.
 
The second half of the match was a come and go with both teams playing at a great level and battling hard for the victory. The fourth chukker ended by 7 goals apiece and in the last 7 minutes both teams had several occasions to close the game. But finally it was Pablo Mac Donough, 10 goaler superstar, after scoring a 60 yard penalty that gave Zedan Polo the victory by 8 goals to 7.
 
Polito Pieres was the top scorer of the match with 5 goals and Mac Donough, with 4, the top scorer for Zedan Polo team.

23/01/2018: DUBAI, UAE: The Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series, an 18-goal handicap competition, enters its ninth year under the Patronage of HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. On Monday, 22 January 2018, the organizing committee conducted a live draw for the McLaren Cup 2018 fixture at The St. Regis Dubai, Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club – the new home ground of the Series.

Mahra Polo keeps unbeaten and Dr. A-Bangash achieves the first victory at the Dubai Cup 2017

 
5th April 2017, DUBAI, UAE:  Mahra Polo and Dr. A-Bangash won their respectives matches of the second day of action for the Dubai Cup, the last tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017, held at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort.
 
Dr. A-Bangash defeated Wolves by 6 goals to 1 and Mahra won a very tough match against Habtoor Polo by 7 goals to 4.5.
 
With this results, Mahra, unbeaten in the tournament, will play the final next friday against Habtoor Polo. Patron Mohammed Al Habtoor´s team has one victory, achieved last Monday against Dr.A-Bangash. Despite that Dr. A-Bangash has also one victory, after beating today Wolves Polo, the “who beat who” rules of the tournament gives Habtoor Polo the spot in the final.

Habtoor Polo and Mahra winners in the opening day of the Dubai Cup 2017


 
3rd April 2017, DUBAI, UAE:  Habtoor Polo and Mahra Polo began the Dubai Cup, the last tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017, in the best way by winning their respective matches against Dr. A-Bangash and Wolves.
 
It was a very attractive double action day at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort with Mahra defeating Wolves by 9 goals to 3.5 and Habtoor Polo achieving a 7 goals to 4 victory against Dr. A-Bangash. In both matches, winners took control of the game from the very beginning and kept a great polo level to guarantee a deserved victory.

Mahra: 4-1.5/ 5-1.5/ 8-2.5/ 9-3.5
Habtoor: 3-1/ 6-2/ 7-3/ 7-4

The Dubai Cup, held by four teams from 6-8 goals handicap, will continue next Wednesday at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort. Starting at 4 pm, Wolves Polo will play against Dr. A-Bangash and from 5 pm Habtoor Polo will face Mahra.

Bin Drai Polo wins the Dubai Challenge Cup


31th March 2017, DUBAI, UAE:  Bin Drai Polo Team won the Dubai Challenge Cup after defeating Habtoor Polo in the final by 9 goals to 8 in an exciting match enjoyed by a huge crowd at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort.
 
Patron Saeed Bin Drai´s team wins this trophy for the second year in a row to close the fourth tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017.
Bin Drai and Habtoor Polo played a great match, with high polo level and full of excitement till the last seconds of the game.
 
Team made up by patron Saeed Bin Drai, Gregorio Gelosi, Francisco Elizalde and Raúl Laplacette started the final in a great shape achieving a 5-0 difference in the first two chukkers.
Despite of the big gap in the score, Habtoor Polo, with 10 goaler Nicolás Pieres leading the team, kept the necessary calm to stay in the game and slowly started the comeback.
Patron Mohammed Al Habtoor´s team showed a great performance from the third chukker onwards to close the gap to one goal. But Bin Drai, despite of the pressure in the score, kept a great teamwork and with Francisco Elizalde “on fire” maintain the lead.
In the last minute of the game Habtoor scored and had the chance to tie the match, but finally Bin Drai achieved the victory by 9 goals to 8 to lift the Dubai Challenge Cup for the second year in a row.
 
Francisco Elizalde was the MVP of the final and mare Capacidad, owned by Nicolás Pieres and played in the 3rd and 5th chukker, was the Best Playing Pony of the final.
Faris Al Yabhouni, Abu Dhabi Polo Team patron, was the amateur top scorer of the tournament with 9 goals.

Four teams, from 6 to 8 goals handicap, will be taking part of this tournament that will start next Sunday 2nd April from 3pm at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort. The teams of the Dubai Cup 2017 are: Habtoor Polo, Mahra Polo, Dr. A-Bangash and Wolves Polo.

Zedan wins and will play the Subsidiary final of the Dubai Challenge Cup against Abu Dhabi


 
29th March 2017, DUBAI, UAE:  Zedan Polo Team defeated Bangash by 7 goals to 5 in today´s Subsidiary Semifinal of the Dubai Challenge Cup and will play the Subsidiary Final against Abu Dhabi next friday.
 
In today´s match, Bangash had the control of the actions and the score during almost all the game but in the last chukker superstar Pablo Mac Donough showed up to change things and give Zedan the victory. From the very beginning, patron Haider Bangash team fought hard to take control of the game and with a great teamwork achieved a 2 goal gap in the score, difference that kept till the fourth period. In the last 14 minutes Zedan, led by Mac Donough, closed the gap to 1 goal and kept on going in the last chukker for a final 7 goals to 5 triumph. Pablo Mac Donough was the top scorer of the match with 5 goals and Federico Von Potobsky the top scorer in Bangash Polo with 3 goals.

Habtoor Polo and Bin Drai will play the final of the Dubai Challenge Cup


28th March 2017, DUBAI, UAE:  Habtoor Polo and Bin Drai Polo Team will play next friday the final of the Dubai Challenge Cup after winning today their respectives matches for the semifinals of the tournament.
 
Bin Drai defeated Mahra by 13 goals to 10 and Habtoor did the same against Wolves by 8 goals to 4 in a great double action day at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort.
With this results Bin Drai and Habtoor will be, like 2016 edition, the finalists of the Dubai Challenge Cup,  the fourth tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017, held under the patronage of HH Sheik Maktoum Bin Mohammed.
 
In the first game of the day, Bin Drai Polo learned from the mistakes made in the last qualifying match against the same rival and had a great performance this afternoon.
From the very beginning patron Saeed Bin Drai´s team was concentrated and played at a great level to defeat the “never surrender” Mahra team.
Finally it was a 13 goals to 10 victory with Raúl Laplacette as the top scorer in the winning team with 6 goals and Jerónimo del Carril, also with 6, the top scorer in Mahra.

In the second match of the day, Habtoor Polo also had to battle hard to defeat always tough Wolves Polo Team. Patron Mohammed Al Habtoor´s team played a great second half, with 10 goaler Nicolás Pieres leading the team for a deserved triumph by 8 goals to 4.
Pieres was the top scorer of the match with 6 goals.

Wolves and Bin Drai Polo complete the semifinals schedule of the Dubai Challenge Cup


26th March 2017, DUBAI, UAE:  The penalty shootout held this morning at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club decided that Bin Drai and Wolves will play the semifinals of the Dubai Challenge Cup along with Mahra and Habtoor Polo.
 
The penalty shootout was held by Abu Dhabi Polo Team, Wolves Polo and Bin Drai Polo with the last two teams going through the next stage.
The semifinals of the Dubai Challenge Cup will be the following: Habtoor Polo will play against Wolves and Mahra will face Bin Drai.
This matches will be held next tuesday at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club with Habtoor vs Wolves playing at 3 pm and Bin Drai vs Mahra from 4.30 pm.
 
Abu Dhabi Polo Team will play the final of the Subsidiary Cup next friday before the Dubai Challenge Cup final. The rival of Abu Dhabi will be the winner of the Subsidiary semifinal between Zedan Polo and Bangash Polo. This match will be held next Wednesday 29th March.

Mahra Polo wins and also makes it to the semifinals of the Dubai Challenge Cup


25th March 2017, DUBAI, UAE:  Mahra Polo defeated Bin Drai by 10 goals to 9 and is the second team to qualify for the semifinals of the Dubai Challenge Cup, the fourth tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017, held under the patronage of HH Sheik Maktoum Bin Mohammed.
 
Mahra joins Habtoor Polo in the next stage of the tournament. The remaining two spots in the semifinals will be decided tomorrow, from 11 am at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club, in a penalty shootout held by Abu Dhabi Polo Team, Wolves Polo and Bin Drai Polo.
 
In the first match of the day, Abu Dhabi Polo Team defeated Bangash by 9 goals to 5 and earned the right to play the penalty shootout.
Patron Faris Al Yabhouni and teammate Alfredo Capella were the top scorers of the match with 3 goals each.

The second match of the day was one of the best games of the tournament. Great polo (despite of the rainy day), two very different periods and an exciting last minute to decide the match in favor of Mahra.
 
Bin Drai started at full speed achieving a six goal difference at the beginning of the third chukker but Mahra made a great comeback to close the gap to 1 goal (6-7) at half time.
In the fourth chukker, patron Rashid Al Habtoor´s team tied the game in 8 goals apiece and in the last period, with a great performance by Jerónimo del Carril (top scorer of the match with 7 goals), Mahra achieved an exciting last minute victory to qualify for the semifinals of the Dubai Challenge Cup.

Bin Drai had a successful premiere in the Dubai Challenge Cup


22nd March 2017, DUBAI, UAE by Gonzalo Etcheverry: Bin Drai Polo defeated Zedan by 8 goals to 6 in today´s debut at the Dubai Challenge Cup, the fourth tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017, held under the patronage of HH Sheik Maktoum Bin Mohammed.
 
Patron Saeed Bin Drai´s team played a great second half, with a great comeback in the fourth chukker, to defeat the Gold Cup champions in a very tough match.
In Bin Drai today´s line up, Ezequiel Martínez Ferrario replaced injured Francisco Elizalde.
 
After a 1 goal apiece first chukker, Zedan took the lead in the match and achieved a 3 goal difference at half time. But in the fourth chukker Bin Drai put their engines at full speed to, first tie the game (4-4), and then keep on going in the final period for a 8 goals to 6 triumph.
Raúl Laplacette in Bin Drai and Pablo Mac Donough (Zedan), with 4 goals each, were the top scorers of the match.

Wolves defeats Abu Dhabi in a thrilling match


20th  March 2017, DUBAI, UAE:  The third day of action for the Dubai Challenge Cup, the fourth tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017, held under the patronage of HH Sheik Maktoum Bin Mohammed showed an exciting match between Wolves Polo and Abu Dhabi.
 
Wolves defeated Abu Dhabi by 11 goals to 10 in a thrilling game that was decided in the last second of the match with a great goal scored by Ezequiel Martínez Ferrario. Both teams played five even chukkers with the lead in the score changing constantly. Abu Dhabi achieved a two goal difference in the fourth chukker that seemed to give them a slight advantage for the final seven minutes.
But Wolves made a great comeback in the last chukker to turn things over. First with a great individual action by Tariq Al Habtoor to score the best goal of the match, then with two more goals by Manuel Crespo and finally the last second shot by Ezequiel Martínez Ferrario for a celebrated victory by 11-10.
 
Manuel Crespo (Wolves) was the top scorer of the match with 6 goals and Joaquín Pittaluga the top scorer in Abu Dhabi with 4.

Habtoor Polo defeats Bangash in the second day of action for the Dubai Challenge Cup


19th  March 2017, DUBAI, UAE:  Habtoor Polo defeated Bangash by 11 goals to 7 in the second day of action for the Dubai Challenge Cup, the fourth tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017, held under the patronage of HH Sheik Maktoum Bin Mohammed.
 
Patron Mohammed Al Habtoor´s team played a great second half, with superstar Nicolás Pieres in a brilliant afternoon for a deserved win in a match held at the main field of the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. After two even chukkers, Habtoor Polo achieved to break away in the third period with a 3 goal gap difference that was vital for the rest of the match. In the last two chukkers, Habtoor Polo kept on going and despite Bangash efforts victory was already secure with a 4 goal gap in the last 7 minutes of the game.
 
The final score was 11 goals to 7 for Habtoor with Nico Pieres scoring 8 goals in the winning team and Federico Von Potobksy 3 goals in Bangash.

Mahra wins in the opening match of the Dubai Challenge Cup


18 March 2017, DUBAI, UAE By Gonzalo Etcheverry:  Mahra Polo Team defeated Zedan Polo by 11 goals to 9 in the opening match of the Dubai Challenge Cup, the fourth tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017, held under the patronage of HH Sheik Maktoum Bin Mohammed.
 
Both teams, winners of the recent Bentley Cup and Julius Baer Gold Cup, played an attractive and even game at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club with a first half of full speed polo.
Goals were scored in almost every attack and a slight difference in favor of Mahra kept them in the lead. Only in the last minutes of the fifth chukker, after two consecutive goals, Mahra achieved to secure a hard worked victory. Isidro Strada (Mahra) and Alejo Taranco for Zedan were the top scorers of the game with 5 goals each.

Mahra: 3-2/ 4-4/ 8-6/ 9-8/ 11-9
 
The Dubai Challenge Cup continues tomorrow with another great match at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club. Starting at 4.30, Habtoor Polo will play against Bangash Polo in field 1.
